Renaissance Boy Justin Bieber Reminds You He's Quite Musically Talente

By Kevin Mazur/Getty Images.

If Justin Bieber ever wanted to retreat from the pop limelight, he could have a nice career as a lounge singer. He'd probably have to rebrand, moving into the depths of Canada and perhaps going solely by his middle name Drew, but he could make it work. Every once in a while, an investigative fan would journey north to his bar, based on the strength of a few Internet rumors. Tentatively, they'd approach his piano after a light, boozy set, determined to uncover the truth.

"Bieber?" he'd say with a wry smile, tucking a bespoke pacifier into his plaid shirt pocket. "Haven't heard that name in years."

Funnily enough, this lounge fanfiction is brought to you by an actual surprise sighting of Bieber at a local bar in Toronto. The "Sorry" singer dropped into the Fifth Pubhouse alone on Friday night to watch a Toronto Raptors game. Ever the showman, solo Bieber didn't just squirrel away into a dark corner and nurse a bottle of Hennessy—he hopped over to the bar's piano and promptly played some Beethoven and a cover of the Beatles' "Let It Be." He also played a piano version of his hit "Sorry." And it sounded quite good! Of course, true Beliebers know the artist is a multi-instrumentalist of sorts, able to play the drums, guitar, and piano. So this is really just a nice reminder. Watch a fan video below and judge for yourself.

Bartender Dale McDermott tweeted about the surprising event, saying the pair chatted about Bieber's recent trip to Ireland. He also called the young star a "very genuine guy."

The small bar was probably an interesting change of pace for Bieber, who's recently endured a mercurial relationship with his legions of screaming fans at stadium shows. Perhaps he should take a note from Lady Gaga and spring for a full dive-bar tour, brought to you by Bud Light™.
