Here I am with a new product from a Korean brand I really like. I've already reviewed some of their products and the Cacao cream for example is now a holy grail cream for me. You can check my reviews here.
The Snail Bee line is probably one of the most popular lines of Benton. Therefore I was really excited when I saw they would launch the Ultimate Serum in this line!
CLAIMS
This serum is enriched with saccharomyces/smail secretion filtrate ferment, bee venom and tea tree leaf water. It helps nourish, soothe and keep the skin supple and resilient.
HOW IT LOOKS / FEELS / SMELLS
This is a clear serum with a medium viscosity almost like a gel. It's not a thick gel though but something more watery. When you start massaging it in, it makes some strings (see picture). It has a nice slip, is easily absorbed and feels slightly sticky.

It has no scent.
Upon contact with the skin, it immediately feels hydrating.
It comes in a 35mL/1.18 fl. oz. bottle and is dispensed with a pipette. The pipette works well, much better than the cacao serum.

The main ingredient is Saccharomyces/Snail Secretion Filtrate Ferment Filtrate. It constitutes 70% of the product. Saccharomyces/Snail Secretion Filtrate Ferment Filtrate is obtained by filtering fermented Snail Secretion Filtrate, which has been fermented by yeast derived from grapes.
Snail filtrate has anti-inflammatory, wound healing properties and can make the skin super soft. The essential substances contained in the snail slime involve glycosaminoglycans and proteins. Glycosaminglycans are hygroscopic polysaccharides. This means they absorb and bind water like mini sponges and carry it deep into the epidermal layer of the skin, perfect for skin hydration and to make it look softer, smoother, and healthier.
Tea tree leaf water is the second ingredient. Tea tree is known as an excellent skin soothing plant. It also has some antioxidant properties and is an ally to help heal blemishes. Tea tree oil is very well studied and is reported as a skin soothing agent and great in case of break out but tea tree leaf water is less studied though.
Anther interesting ingredient is niacinamide. Nacinamide can improve skin’s elasticity, enhance its barrier function, stimulate microcirculation, help erase discolorations, and revive skin’s healthy tone and texture ,i.e brightening. It is also able to treat an uneven skin tone and to mitigate acne and the red marks it leaves behind (known as post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation).
Present are also many botanical extracts, such as green tea, aloe, Japanese cypress, persimmon/kaki, elm bark, Chinese plantain, etc. Most of them have antioxidant properties.
Hyaluronic acid is also present in a good amount, it's a humectant that can draw water into the skin and is therefore important for hydration. Beta-Glucan has some antioxidant properties and is a skin-soothing agent. The same is true for betaine and panthenol.
Bee Venom is also present in small amount. Bee venom has anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. I've found a study where they formulated a serum at a concentration of 0.006% bee venom. Their conclusion is that bee venom plays an important role in the improvement of skin wrinkles (1). I found a couple of other studies but these are all rather small. More studies are needed but it seems like bee venon could be a very interesting anti-wrinkle ingredient.
As I have to review this serum before August 12 and I'll be on holiday tomorrow, I didn' have much time to really test it. I can therefore not tell you about long-term effects.
As a first impression this serum feels hydrating and more precisely deeply hydrating as my skin doesn't feel dry 10 minutes after applying it. The texture is pleasant and it's so gentle that my sensitive skin hasn't reacted badly to it. I can slather it on and that's usually what I like doing with hydrating serums.
I like the ingredient list. As the name suggest, it does contain snail filtrate and in high amount and bee venom is also present. Morever it contains many botanical extracts and seems overall pretty gentle.
According to the ingredients, this serum will hydrate and soothe the skin (what it does, I could experience it). Thanks to niacinamide, it also has brightening properties and thanks to been venom, possible anti-wrinkle properties. After trying it for about 10 days, I can already say that it's a serum I really like, maybe even better than the Cacao serum. The Cacao serum was great but I used it up to quickly imo, maybe because of its texture/consistency.
